Sassy Longarm Quilting

A little over twenty five years ago I fell in love with making quilts when a friend of mine showed me a quilt she made for her cousin as a wedding gift. Quilt making sounded like a good opportunity to explore my creative side. I had this friend show me how to make my first quilt and have been making quilts ever since.

In addition to being a long-arm quilter, I also work full-time at Heirloom Creations in Sioux Falls, SD, where I have been helping our clients with all their quilting and sewing needs for over 20 years.

Service and Pricing

Services

I currently offer computerized edge to edge long-arm quilting services. I will work with you to find the perfect quilting design and thread color, or you can simply ask for “quilter’s choice” and I will pick out something that will reflect the character and uniqueness of your quilt. Quilt back assembly and binding services are also available. Please refer to “How to Prepare Your Quilt for Longarm Quilting” for information on getting your quilt ready before bringing it to be quilted.

Batting

Services

I have Quilter’s Dream cotton batting on hand to use in your quilts. Upon request, I can get any of the Quilter’s Dream batting and Pellon Natures Touch in cotton or cotton/poly blend. Batting will be charged by the bag or by the yard. I prefer to use my own batting because I know it will quilt up well.

Backing and Binding Services

Edge to edge quilting $0.018 per square inch
Minimum charge $45
Thread cost $2.00 per bobbin

Backing and Binding Services

$12 per seam to piece the backing
$0.12 per linear inch to attach the binding to one side of the quilt
$0.25 per linear inch to prepare and attach the binding to the front of the quilt and hand-stitch it to the back

How to Prepare Your Quilt for Longarm Quilting

The quilt back should be AT LEAST 3” bigger than the quilt top on all sides. For example, if your quilt top is 60” x 80”, your back should measure at least 66” x 86”.
Please press your quilt top before sending/dropping it off. Make sure all the seams are pressed flat.
Trim excess thread off the back of the quilt top.
Do not put any embellishments on your quilt before quilting.
Do not baste your quilt layers together. Leave your quilt top and quilt back in two separate pieces.
Remove all pins that may have been left in the quilt.
